James Lawson of London is listed working as a clockmaker in 1806. To use the term London on your clocks was a privilege granted to a select group of clockmakers. During this time the best and brightest clockmakers congregated in London to attract the Patronage of the aristocracy. This clock features an unusual finely veneered, with a slender waist mahogany case. It has an eight day movement that strikes the hours on a bell. The dial features Roman numerals and has the makers name engraved into the surface. The dial indicates time and seconds. The clock comes with its original cast iron weights, iron pendulum bob and winding crank key.
